One man was killed and three more were injured in a Sunday morning shooting at a hotel in Monroe, according to Monroe police.

Vashawn Colston was found dead at the Relax Inn on U.S. 74 around 1 a.m. Sunday, Monroe spokesman Pete Hovanec said.

No one has been charged yet, but Hovanec said police believe Colston fired his gun and one of the injured men — Christian Cole, who's in the ICU in "very critical" condition — is also a suspect.

Cole was shot several times, including in the neck and back, Hovanec said.

Montavis Huntley, who was shot in the leg, made a detour on his way to the hospital.

"Huntley was initially brought to the Police Department for questioning," Hovanec said in a statement. "But after sitting him in the interview room, he realized he had been shot. He was sent to the hospital shortly after."

The fourth person shot is Terrence Wingo, who was struck in the arm and back. He's in serious but stable condition, Hovanec said.

Police recovered two guns, Hovanec said.

The State Bureau of Investigations is helping the Monroe Police Department with the investigation, which is ongoing.
