Fatal shooting leads to SWAT situation in northeast Charlotte

One man was killed and another man was injured after they were shot while inside a car in northeast Charlotte on Saturday.

The shooting took place in the 4600 block of Perth Court around 12:30 p.m, police said. When officers arrived, they found the victims in the car. One was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic, while the other man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

A third person in the car was not injured, police said.

None of the victims was identified.

Following the shooting, police determined the armed suspects were still nearby, on Lanecrest Drive, officials said.

A SWAT team was dispatched to the area and, after a brief standoff, the suspects were taken to police headquarters to be interviewed, police said.

Officials didn't say how many people were involved in the standoff or were brought in for questioning. No other details have been released yet on the case.
