17 men accused in sting operation of soliciting a minor

A three-month sting operation by Lincolnton police has led to solicitation of a minor charges against 17 men from seven Charlotte area counties, the Lincoln Times-News reported.

An undercover officer posed on social media as either an underage girl or boy from Lincolnton, according to the newspaper. Police reported receiving at least 1,000 responses, according to the newspaper.

Some of the men brought alcohol and controlled substances with them to meet whom they believed to be a minor, the paper reported. “They came from all walks of life, backgrounds and professions,” police Detective Brent Heavner told the paper. “Former law enforcement, firemen, teachers and coaches were charged. I was amazed at how brazen many were and how some didn’t feel like they were doing anything wrong.”

A dozen area law enforcement and child welfare agencies assisted in the investigation.

The newspaper identified those arrested as David Glenn Bayes, 35, of Cherryville; Jeffry Andrew Brech, 42, of Statesville; Tony Martin Brown, 41, of Newton; James William Foster, 53, of Maiden; Daryl John Guy, 39, of Statesville; David Alan Keller, 51, of Morganton; Timothy Wayne Lail, 41, of Lincolnton; Zachary Bingham Lewis, 27, of Dallas; John Everette Miller, 31, of Hickory; Timothy Guy Parton, 47, of Connelly Springs; Wesley Antawin Perkins, 22, of Lincolnton; Barry Arlin Robinson, 43, of Newton; Adam J. Rummell, 35, of Waxhaw; Joshua William Stone, 29, of Old Fort; Jason Scott Webb, 46, of Belmont; Yancey Venoy Webb, 30, of Lincolnton; and Ivan Demetruis Zigbio, 24, of Lincolnton.
