N.Y. fugitive nabbed during Iredell County traffic stop

Iredell County sheriff’s investigators arrested a N.Y. man during a traffic stop this week who was wanted by the New York Police Department on gun charges, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.

Investigators stopped a Mitsubishi passenger car for traffic violations on Interstate 77 at the Tomlin Mill Road exit in north Iredell. The car was being driven by Michael Davone Jones, who investigators learned through a national crime database was wanted in New York.

Jones was taken to the Iredell County jail on $100,000 bail pending his transfer back to New York to stand trial, Campbell said.
