Police: Fort Mill Starbucks employee, 60, stole $1,300 in gift cards

A Fort Mill woman was arrested on a breach of trust charge Saturday for allegedly stealing $1,300 worth of Starbucks gift cards from the coffee shop located inside a Harris Teeter grocery store where she worked, according to York County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The crime prevention specialist at the store located on S.C. 160 at Pleasant Road told officers that he saw the cards taken on video surveillance at the store and that $1,300 worth of cards had been activated, according to a police report.

The store officer confronted Sharon Walker, 60, who allegedly admitted the theft and had six more cards in her purse, the report states.

Walker admitted to responding deputies that she stole the cards and had been giving them to friends and family, the report states, and further admitted that Saturday morning she had stolen and activated the six additional cards.
