Lincoln County deputies arrested a 20-year-old Charlotte man who had a quarter pound of marijuana in the vehicle when he was stopped Saturday for running a red light.

Samuel Donovan Lawing’s vehicle reeked of marijuana when deputies pulled him over near the 7100 block of N.C. 73 in Denver, according to a report from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The hydroponically grown marijuana was packaged in small bags and was valued between $600 and $1,000, according to the report. Lawing admitted that he was selling the drug in the Denver area, the report said.

Lawing was charged with one count of felony possession of marijuana and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted a $2,500 secured bond and was released.
