Police locate parents of 2-year-old found wandering alone

Authorities have located the parents of a 2-year-old child found wandering alone in east Charlotte Tuesday evening after asking the public to call authorites with any information about the minor.

Around 8 p.m. a 911 caller notified police about finding the child on Farmview Road, near where North Sharon Amity Road meets Central Avenue, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release.

The toddler was wearing a blue and green long-sleeved Super Mario shirt, grey sweatpants and red slippers. Police haven’t released other descriptive information.

Police encouraged anyone with information about the found child to call 911.

About 10 p.m. police announced that they had located the child’s parents.

“Detectives are interviewing the parents to determine if charges will be filed,” the statement said.
