3 charged in Charlotte-area robberies

Three people are in custody after being linked with armed robberies in the Charlotte area, including one incident in which a man was shot near North Sharon Amity Road as he fled the attackers.

In custody are Tyesha Burch, 19, Armunde Cuff, 27, and Te’Asia Oliphant, 20.

The three approached an individual who was walking through a parking lot in the 3400 block of Teal Point Drive in east Charlotte at 1:48 a.m. Friday, according to a report from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

One of the three had a gun and tried to rob the victim, according to the report. The victim resisted and was being assaulted when he freed himself and ran. He was shot in the leg after several shots were fired, according to the report.

The three in custody were identified as suspects during CMPD’s investigation and linked to other crimes in the area, the report said. Details about the other incidents were not disclosed in the report.

Oliphant was arrested at the Charlotte Transportation Center Monday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy.

Burch and Cuff were arrested and charged Wednesday with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy.

All three are in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
