A person was shot outside an Exxon station at West Sugar Creek Road and Reagan Drive about 5:30 a.m. Friday.
The person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Observer news partner WBTV reported.
The shooting happened near where an 18-year-old carjacker died after his car went airborne and crashed into a pole while speeding from police Thursday morning.
Police said Kahmal Williams Darby stole a black 2006 Volvo S60 in northwest Charlotte about four hours before police spotted the car and Darby sped off.
