A woman died Saturday in a southwest Charlotte apartment fire that police said was intentionally set.

The fire was reported at about 5:30 p.m. in an apartment in the 12100 block of Toscana Way, off South Tryon Street in Steele Creek.

Medic transported Amanda Strous, 27, to Carolinas Medical Center-Steele Creek, where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives do not believe this was a random act of violence, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
