Man shot at Spartanburg, SC, club returns fire, stopping shooter

A man who got into a scuffle at a Spartanburg club and started firing indiscriminately into the crowd was stopped by another patron who returned fire after being injured.

Jody Ray Thompson, 32, of Spartanburg, is charged with four counts of attempted murder, according to GoUpstate.com.

No one was shot in the alteraction at the Playoffz Nightclub around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the news site reported.

Thompson got into a fight with another man, then started firing into crowd, striking several people. One of the injured people pulled his own pistol and fired back, striking Thompson in the leg.
