Arrest made in Stanly jewelry theft

A Montgomery County man has been charged in connection with the theft of jewelry from a Stanly County woman, according to the sheriff’s office in Stanly County.

Clinton Rayvon Smith, 21, of Mount Gilead, was arrested late last week and charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

Investigators say a Stanly County woman reported items had been stolen from her residence. Deputies say they recovered about $1,500 worth of gold jewelry that had been stolen, and they say evidence led them to Smith.
