Police: Investigation continues in death of couple inside northwest Charlotte home

Charlotte-Mecklenburg homicide detectives continued an investigation Saturday to determine what caused the deaths of a couple whose bodies were found by a family member inside their northwest Charlotte home.

The bodies were found Friday morning at a residence in the 5700 block of Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. A CMPD spokesman said Saturday afternoon that there were no updates available on the cause of death or the names of the deceased.

On Friday, a CMPD spokesman said detectives didn’t believe foul play was involved but that it was still early in the investigation.

The Cook Volunteer Fire Department had responded to three calls about a gas leak in the area beginning around 9 p.m. Thursday night, according to assistant chief Chris Brady. Cook VFD responded to the call when the couple’s bodies were discovered and found no evidence of carbon monoxide or gas fumes, Brady said.

A police investigator at the scene said Friday afternoon that he could not rule out carbon monoxide as the cause of death.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact detectives at 704-432-TIPS, or leave information with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
