Mooresville police investigating 2 armed robberies

Mooresville Police are investigating two armed robberies that happened Friday night at a Food Lion and a Walmart.

No one was injured during either incident, according to police.

Police responded to a report just after 8 p.m. of a man with a black handgun taking cash from the register at Food Lion at 971 N. Main St.

The suspect is described as a black man between 5-feet-10 inches and 6 feet tall, approximately 30, with a small goatee. He was wearing a maroon shirt and black jacket, pants and hat. Witnesses saw the suspect walking east toward Pine Street.

Shortly before midnight, police responded to another report of an armed robbery at the Walmart at 169 Norman Station Blvd. The suspect is described as a black man with a graying goatee, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black jacket, gray shirt, sunglasses and a blue toboggan. He displayed a handgun as he approached the cashier and demanded money from the register, according to police. He took cash and fled the scene on foot.

Police have obtained and are reviewing surveillance video from both locations.
