Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the shooting death of a man late Tuesday night in northeast Charlotte appears to be drug-related.
The victim, whom police identified as 29-year-old Romon Antonio Williams, of Charlotte, was found shot to death shortly before 10 p.m. inside an apartment in the 7100 block of Barrington Drive. That is off Milton Road, a short distance west of W.T. Harris Boulevard.
Investigators said evidence at the scene indicates that the shooting was not random and seemed to have drug connections. Court records show Williams was arrested twice last year on felony cocaine charges.
Detectives spent much of the night searching for clues and looking for possible witnesses.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call detectives at 704-432-TIPS. Or information can be left with Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
