Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report 11 DWI arrests on Wilkinson Boulevard overnight

A police checkpoint on Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte resulted in 11 motorists being arrested on DWI charges overnight.

The checkpoint was conducted in the 5600 block from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report these arrests and citations: DWI:11; DWI under 21: 4; aid and abet DWI: 2; revoked license: 8; no license: 8; open container law violation: 2; vehicle registration/inspection violation: 12; misdemeanor drug charges: 2; felony drug charges: 2; resisting a public officer: 1; warrants: 1.

The checkpoint was part of the St. Patrick’s Day Booze It and Lose It campaign which began at midnight and runs through Monday night.

People drove all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes all over Charlotte NC, from South Park to north and west Charlotte, on Saturday, and some of the drivers were arrested, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
