Investigators say food left cooking on a stove was the cause of a fire that caused $10,000 worth of damage in Gastonia on Sunday.
No one was injured in connection with the fire.
It started about 2:20 p.m. at a house on Rankin Avenue. When firefighters got there, they saw that the blaze had spread from the stove to the walls and attic.
It took 20 firefighters about 10 minutes to extinguish it.
