A Stanley woman has been charged with stealing money from her employer, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Deputies charged Marcia Haggins Nealey, 41, with one felony count of larceny by employee.
Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General Store at 1299 N.C. 16 South on Saturday to meet with a loss prevention officer for Dollar General about theft of money from the store.
The loss prevention officer told deputies that Nealey had been taking money from the store’s deposits for personal use. The incidents had been happening since about Thanksgiving and involved a total of $9,574.86, the Sheriff’s Office said.
