A man who allegedly cut off an electronic monitoring device 12 days ago was captured Tuesday morning after a brief police pursuit in northwest Charlotte, authorities say.
Carlton Ardrey had been sought by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police since March 13, when authorities said he cut off his monitoring device on Countryside Drive in north Charlotte.
Ardrey was facing a number of charges and had been due in court March 13, records show.
Police said investigators got information Tuesday morning that Ardrey was at a house on Julia Street, off Statesville Avenue near Interstate 85. Officers and detectives from a number of CMPD units converged on the house, but Ardrey got into a truck and attempted to drive off.

Investigators said Ardrey refused to stop for the N.C. Highway Patrol, and that set off a brief pursuit. Ardrey abandoned the vehicle near Statesville Avenue and ran, police said, but he was caught a short time later.
Mecklenburg County Jail records show Ardrey also was charged with cutting off an electronic monitoring device last October.
