On the sixth anniversary of Jamie Michelle Fraley’s disappearance, Gaston County police made a renewed effort Tuesday to solve the mystery of her whereabouts.
Fraley was 22 when she was last seen about 2 a.m. April 8, 2008, at her apartment in the 1800 block of Lowell-Bethesda Road near Gastonia. She was reported missing three days later.
Family members said Fraley, a Gaston College student, did not drive. Her apartment was found locked, with nothing apparently missing.
Some of her personal items were found April 13, 2008, on New South Hope Road. Family members and friends have conducted their own search, but they and police have not solved the case.

A man who had been identified as a person of interest in the case, Ricky Dale Simonds Sr., was found dead in the trunk of his ex-girlfriend’s car, about two months after Fraley disappeared.
Police said Fraley would be 28 years old today. She was 4 feet 8 inches tall, weighed about 90 pounds, and had blonde hair and brown eyes.
Authorities in Gaston County also have been thwarted in their efforts to solve the disappearance of Jennifer Ramsey Rivkin, who was last seen May 4, 2008. The BMW she had borrowed was discovered two days later near a bar in west Gastonia.
Anyone with information about the Fraley or Rivkin cases is asked to contact Gaston County police at 704-866-3320 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
