Maiden man gets 75 years in prison for child rape

A Catawba County man was sentenced Monday to at least 75 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child, prosecutors said.

Ron Christopher Rogers, 42, of Maiden, pleaded guilty to six counts each of rape of a child, first-degree sex offense with a child, and indecent liberties with a child.

Prosecutors said the offenses took place over six months ending in December 2011 in Maiden. The victim was younger than 12, authorities said. According to police reports, Rogers was arrested after his wife caught him abusing a child.

Judge Eric Levinson sentenced Rogers to between 75 and 105 years in prison. If he is ever released from prison, prosecutors said, Rogers will be subject to satellite-based monitoring for the rest of his life and will be ordered to register with the N.C. Sex Offender Registry.
