An Ashe County man faces five felony charges after Watauga County authorities reported discovering dozens of marijuana plants growing in a building east of Boone, the sheriff’s office said.
Abrham Shaki, 58, of Fleetwood, was arrested earlier this week, according to the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said they received tips that marijuana was being grown in a building off U.S. 421, about 5 miles from Boone. Agents got a search warrant to check a warehouse in the 200 block of Joe Green Road.
Investigators said half of the building was being used for industrial use, but they say the other half was a marijuana grow operation. Authorities reported finding grow lamps, heaters, timers for the heat and light, and fans to circulate the air and disperse the smell of marijuana.
