Search continues for Lincoln County woman missing since May 26

A western Lincoln County woman who was last seen on May 26 remains missing, and investigators issued a renewed plea Tuesday for help in finding her.

Toasha Nicole Rice, 27, was last seen getting into a black four-door sedan with a white female driver at a friend’s home on Eaker Road. The car left the home, and no one has seen Rice since, sheriff’s investigators said.

Detectives have interviewed family, friends and a number of people she is known to associate with. They searched a large wooded area off Sorrells Baxter Road and Eaker Road in western Lincoln County with a K-9 search team.

“Toasha has not contacted her family, used her financial credit cards or picked up checks, and that is not a good sign,” sheriff’s Lt. Tim Johnson said.

Rice also goes by the name of Nikki Green on her Facebook page. She is white with blue eyes and reddish brown hair, 5-foot-6 and about 140 pounds.

“We have followed every lead received and have involved Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation, who also used the N.C. SBI to assist them,” Johnson said. “This was due to a tip that was followed up on that led to a Cleveland County residence. It was later found not to be a valid tip.

Investigators intend to back-track their investigation “to make sure we have not missed anything,” Johnson said. “We want closure for Nikki’s children and other family members. We need someone to give good information to get a break in this case.”
