A Shelby man has been charged in connection with a series of convenience store robberies in late July, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
Regie Lee Wright, 22, was taken into custody by federal marshals in Virginia and returned to North Carolina, authorities said. He has been charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The robberies took place July 24 at the Swainsville One Stop, Hamrick’s Grocery, Burns Save Mart and Highway 18 Mini Mart, investigators said. Authorities said the arrest followed a joint investigation by sheriff’s deputies and Shelby police.
Authorities said Wright is being held without bond because he was on probation when he allegedly robbed the four stores.
