Huntersville police say pizza robbery was inside job

Huntersville police say an Aug. 6 robbery of a pizza restaurant in the Northcross area was an inside job, and they have arrested an employee in the case.

Police said they also are looking for two men. Investigators allege that a shift-leader at the restaurant conspired with the two other suspects in the robbery.

The incident took place at Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint, in the 10100 block of Northcross Center Court. The bandits took money from the store and also robbed several employees.

James Richard Haney Jr., 29, identified by police as an employee of Uncle Maddio’s, has been charged with five counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon; four counts of second-degree kidnapping; conspiracy to commit armed robbery; and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Police said the other suspects in the case are Cameron Lee Nash, 27, and Tommy Vanh Bountham, 23. Each man faces more than 10 charges, according to investigators.

Anyone with information about Nash’s and Bountham’s whereabouts is asked to contact Huntersville police at 704-464-5400 or call 911.
