Man injured in northwest Charlotte shooting

A man was shot and seriously injured in northwest Charlotte Sunday afternoon, and police were waiting for him to regain consciousness at the hospital to learn about the shooter.

The shooting happened on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Oregon Road and Rozzelles Ferry Road, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Lt. Spencer Cochrane. Police investigators could be seen searching for shell casings and other evidence outside the Mallay Mini Mart. Cochrane said investigators believed the shooting happened in a grove of nearby trees.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, and police didn’t have a description of the suspect.

Officers haven’t released the name of the injured man, whose family hasn’t been notified of the shooting.
