Report: Rock Hill man drove drunk with kids in car

A Rock Hill man was arrested after police say he drove while intoxicated with two children in his back seat.

Police observed a 2006 Chrysler 300 sedan going 15 to 17 mph over the speed limit onto Ebenezer Road from Oakland Avenue late Friday evening. The driver, Javier Rodriguez, 35, was stopped by police and smelled of alcohol.

Rodriguez failed the sobriety tests, a police report states. In Rodriguez’ back seat were a 4-year-old and an 11-year-old, police say. A breath test indicated his alcohol content was 0.07, according to the report.

Rodriguez was charged with driving under the influence first offense and child endangerment. He was issued a Rock Hill Municipal court date for early October.

A family member was called to pick up the car and take care of the children.
