40 tickets issued at Charlotte seat-belt checkpoint

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they wrote 40 tickets for seat-belt violations during a 90-minute checkpoint Monday morning just north of uptown Charlotte.

Police said the checkpoint, conducted from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at North Tryon and 11th streets, was part of the statewide Child Passenger Safety Week campaign. CMPD said additional daytime and nighttime checkpoints are planned this week. The campaign runs through Monday.

In addition to the seat-belt citations, police said they issued 34 other citations:

• Child seat violations: 2.

• No operator’s license: 3.

• Driving with license revoked: 5.

• Tag/inspection violations: 17.

• Other: 7.
