Lenoir man charged in stabbing case

Lenoir police have charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a stabbing Monday afternoon that left another man seriously injured.

Bobby Lee Holsclaw, of Lenoir, has been charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. He was jailed under $250,000 bond.

Police said they were called shortly before 5 p.m. to the 1800 block of Forest Hill Park Place, where they found Roger Donald Evens of Lenoir lying in the driveway. Evens had been stabbed in the left side of the chest, police said.

Investigators said Evens was able to identify his attacker as Holsclaw, and police said witnesses confirmed that. Holsclaw was spotted a short time later and tried to run from officers, police said, but he was soon caught.

Evens was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he was listed Tuesday in serious but stable condition. Police said additional charges are possible in the case.

Lenoir police ask that anyone with information in the case contact them at 828-757-2100, or call Crime Stoppers at 828-758-8300.
