Woman seriously hurt in NW Charlotte shooting

A woman was shot and seriously wounded before daybreak Wednesday in northwest Charlotte, authorities said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the shooting was reported about 5:30 a.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Harrison Street, in the Lakewood community off Rozzelles Ferry Road.

There is no word on circumstances surrounding the shooting, and no arrests have been announced by police.

But police issued an alert about 7:30 a.m., saying they were looking for a man who had been seen in the area before the shooting.

Medic said it transported the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Steve Lyttle
