A man was shot and killed in west Charlotte on Wednesday night, and investigators worked late into the evening trying to figure out what led to the shooting.
Officers were called out to the 4800 block of Tuckaseegee Road near Interstate 85 and Freedom Drive after getting a report of shots fired about 7:30 p.m. They found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
The man was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not release the man’s name because his family has not been notified.
The fatal shooting happened near Tuckaseegee Park, which was the site of a nonfatal shooting in January. In that shooting, police said several people, including the two victims, were involved in an altercation outside the park’s recreation center when one person fired shots, striking the two victims and an unoccupied vehicle parked nearby.
No one had been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s shooting and police did not release the name or a description of a suspect. They encouraged anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters can also call 704-432-TIPS (8477) to speak directly with a homicide investigator.
