Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for two suspects who posed as stranded motorists Wednesday night and then robbed and assaulted the man who stopped to help them.
The victim was driving south on Interstate 85 in University City around 9 p.m. when he saw a black pickup on the shoulder with its flashers on, near Mallard Creek Church Road, police said.
A woman was standing at the rear of the truck with a gas can, and when the victim got out of his vehicle to help, a man approached from the tree line and pointed a gun at the victim, police said.
The male suspect assaulted the victim and took an undisclosed amount of property before both suspects fled in their truck, police said.

• Keep vehicle doors locked and windows up when driving or parked.
