Two Iredell County teenagers are facing serious charges after Sheriff Deputies say they were throwing rocks off of an overpass near Statesville.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, one woman was hurt and five vehicles damaged traveling South bound on I-77, under the Rankin Hill Road overpass.
The woman was injured by glass when a rock or piece of concrete broke the passenger side window.
A homeowner in the area also reported damage to their residence.
Deputies say a resource officer at Lake Norman High School was given information about the suspect by another student. They say the suspect was telling other students he had been throwing rocks at passing vehicles on I-77.
Upon further investigation, deputies tracked down and interviewed two 15 year olds who admitted to the crime. One is a student at Lake Norman High School, the other at Mooresville High School.
Iredell County Sheriff's Deputies are waiting on a juvenile petition to charge to two teens. But both juveniles will likely be charged with five counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. Along with one count of the Damage to Property.
Deputies say the total cost of the damage to all five vehicles is around $5,000.
