Authorities in Rowan County said they have arrested a second suspect in the slayings of two men earlier this month in Spencer.
The arrest of Darius Obryan Abel, 24, of Salisbury, took place Thursday night. One night earlier, Kenneth Abel Jr., 27, of Salisbury, was arrested in the case. Each man is jailed on two counts of murder, according to Rowan County Jail records.
Police have not said if the two suspects are related.
They are charged in connection with the Oct. 8 shooting deaths of Antonio Walker, 29, and his uncle, James “Junior” Walker, 44. They were killed in a residence in the 600 block of Fifth Street in Spencer, police said.
Investigators said they believe robbery was the motive in the deaths, and they said a third suspect is being sought.
Spencer police, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Bureau of Investigation are involved in the probe.
