No injuries were reported in a standoff that lasted more than three hours Monday afternoon in Caldwell County, authorities said.
The incident started shortly after 2:30 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office, when a social worker went to visit a person with mental health issues at a residence on Upton Road in the Globe community. That is in northwest Caldwell County, near the Watauga County line.
Deputies tried negotiating with the man but were unable to talk him into coming outside. The SWAT team was called in and took the man into custody; no one was injured.
The man was taken to a hospital for observation. Steve Lyttle
