A man is charged after police say he attempted to rob a pharmacy of opiates with a BB gun in Denver.
Benjamin Michael Lineberger, 22, attempted to rob the Walgreens on Highway 73 using a black BB gun just before 8 p.m. Friday, according to officials. The store clerk said Lineberger walked in, showed what appeared to be a black revolver, and demanded opiates. The clerk says they told Lineberger the prescriptions were locked up and they didn't have a key.
Walgreens employees told police that Lineberger was in the store earlier that day. They said he waited for the crowd to thin out and asked if there was a prescription under his name. The pharmacy told him 'no' so he walked across the street to Rite Aid where he asked the same question and was denied. That's when police say he went back into the Walgreens and attempted to rob the pharmacy.
Lineberger was arrested at his home and charged with felony attempted robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapon. Police placed him in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
