A China Grove man was sentenced this week to nine years and four months in prison after he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Barry Ray Howard, 58, was arrested on May 15 when undercover officers bought oxymorphone and other drugs from Howard as well as a .38 handgun with an obliterated serial number. Authorities found five handguns, two rifles, a shotgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his home. Joe Marusak
