A man jogging through an intersection in southwest Charlotte was struck and critically injured by an SUV Thursday morning. The 6:30 a.m. collision caused investigators to temporarily close westbound lanes of Steele Creek Road near South Tryon Street.
The jogger, Jorge Alexis-Gonzales Chirinos, 30, was in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center late Thursday. The driver of the Toyota Highlander involved in the wreck had not been charged with a crime Thursday. She was not injured and stayed on the scene for questioning.
