No injuries were reported in a pair of fires Tuesday in north Charlotte, authorities said.
The first blaze was reported early Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of Squirrel Hill Road, off Hidden Valley Road and two blocks north of Snow White Lane.
The American Red Cross said five adults were displaced by the blaze. The Red Cross was providing support for the residents.
The second blaze broke out about 8:45 p.m. at a building in a wooded area in the 3400 block of Northerly Road. That is off Statesville Road, between Atando Avenue and Interstate 85.
Fire officials said a passing motorist called 911 and reported a brush fire in the area. When firefighters arrived, they found a metal building on fire, and they said the surrounding area had been covered with brush, trash and wood pallets.
The owner of the building told officials that the structure had not been used in more than two years. Charlotte fire officials said a crew of 23 firefighters brought the blaze under control in 20 minutes.
Fire investigators said they were not able to determine the origin and cause of the blaze.
