No injuries in Belmont bank robbery

No injuries were reported Monday when a man robbed a bank in Belmont, police said.

The robbery was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo bank branch in the 600 block of Park Street. Police said they were alerted by an alarm from the bank.

Employees said the suspect entered the bank and handed a note to a teller, demanding money. No weapon was seen, police said.

The man left with an undisclosed amount of money and was seen leaving in a white minivan, headed toward Interstate 85. The vehicle might have had South Carolina license tags, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black male, about 6 feet, 4 inches with a light beard. He was wearing a black shirt, black pants, a black hat, and black glasses.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact police at 704-825-3792.
