Gastonia woman charged in daughter’s bathtub death

Police have arrested and charged a Gastonia woman in the death of her child in a bathtub.

Phoebe Alanna Pieper, 25, was charged with involuntary manslaughter Tuesday after police said they consulted with the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office.

Police said they were called to Pieper’s home Friday concerning a child who was said to be unresponsive and not breathing after falling in a bathtub filled with water.

Police haven’t released the daughter’s age.

Emergency officials performed CPR on the child. She was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia and then transferred to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, where she died Saturday, police said. Joe Marusak
