A Virginia resident was arrested last week in connection with a burglary case seven years ago in Lincoln County, authorities said.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, Thomas Black, 46, of Newport News, Va., was living in the Lincolnton area at the time of the crime, in December 2007.
Black, who was returned to Lincoln County after his arrest Tuesday, has been charged with second-degree burglary and larceny after breaking and entering. He also was served with two misdemeanor traffic warrants, deputies said.
Investigators said Black’s ex-girlfriend returned to her home on Oakwood Circle on Dec. 3, 2007, and said she saw Black running from the house. Deputies claimed the suspect left with about $10,000 worth of jewelry and $650 in cash. Investigators said the thief got into the house by prying open a back bedroom window.
