Charlotte man charged in Concord murder case

A Charlotte man was arrested Wednesday and charged in last week’s shooting death of a man in Concord, police said.

Kevin Deshaun Dixon, 21, was charged with murder, attempted armed robbery, discharging a firearm into occupied property, and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, authorities said.

Concord police said Dixon was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police at the suspect’s residence on Atlas Drive, off Statesville Avenue in north Charlotte. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The charges stem from the Nov. 26 shooting death of Andreas Alberto Martinez. Investigators said Martinez’s wife drove the victim to the Concord police station after he had been shot during a confrontation with another person on Malvern Drive at Lincoln Street in Concord. Martinez died at the scene.

Police and emergency medical personnel tried unsuccessfully to revive Martinez after the shooting.
