No one injured in rolling shootout along I-85

A rolling shootout along Interstate 85 didn’t leave any reported injuries Monday, but police said they took two suspects into custody after the incident.

The shooting happened about 4 p.m. on the southbound side of I-85, near where the highway meets Interstate 485.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police spokeswoman Officer Jessica Wallin said officers were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call near Exit 30, “where two vehicles were exchanging gunfire.”

CMPD and the N.C. Highway Patrol were investigating Monday afternoon. Wallin said officers had taken two suspects into custody, but police haven’t released their names.

Video from the the scene showed a silver car that apparently crashed at a ramp leading to the highway. A police SUV was parked nearby, its lights flashing.

Medic, the county’s paramedic service, said no one was transported to the hospital.
