Funeral set for teen who died in moped accident

A family in Mooresville has made funeral arrangements for a teenager who was killed in a moped accident on Saturday. Colton “Colt” Douglas Murdock, 16, died on the way to the hospital after he lost control of his moped on Rinehardt Road and was hit by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel, 494 East Plaza Drive, in Mooresville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Murdock was a student at South Iredell High and worked at his father’s lawn care business. The crash was still under investigation on Sunday, but police have said the driver of the car won’t be charged. Cleve R. Wootson Jr.
