Ohio couple jailed on drug charges after I-77 Iredell County traffic stop

A couple driving home to Ohio were arrested Friday after sheriff’s investigators found methamphetamine in their vehicle on Interstate 77 north.

Scott Andrew Delaney, 38, and Carla Marie Everhart, 46, were arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transportation and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling to keep/sell a controlled substance, Sheriff Darren Campbell said Tuesday.

Each was jailed on a $350,000 bail.

Deputies stopped the couple’s 1996 Buick for a lane-control violation about 2:15 p.m. Friday north of the Tomlin Mill Road exit. During the stop, Campbell said, deputies smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle.

Deputies said they found 37 grams of methamphetamine, along with glass pipes used to smoke meth, hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia.

The SBI, Harmony Fire Department and Mooresville Fire Department hazardous materials team assisted at the scene.
