A 60-year-old Statesville area man was jailed after he fired a gun at his wife but missed, Iredell County sheriff’s investigators said.
A neighbor in the 700 block of Chal Drive called 911 on Sunday night after hearing an argument and a gunshot in the home of Herman Wayne Christie.
Christie’s wife escaped unharmed, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.
The couple had been arguing over Christie drinking too much alcohol, Campbell said.

Before firing the weapon in his wife’s direction, Christie threatened to kill her, the sheriff said.
Deputies said they found Herman Christie with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Christie was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center in Statesville, where he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Christie was jailed without bail on the assault charge and on $1,500 bail on the drug charges.
