Hickory police search for vehicle involved in NYE pedestrian hit and run

The Hickory Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is asking for the public’s help in finding the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian on New Year’s Eve.

Police said Friday they’re looking for the vehicle that hit Ashley Nicole Pearson, of Hickory, while she was walking across the 500 block of Second Avenue S.E. around 10 p.m.

The vehicle left the scene, and Pearson was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center, and later to Baptist Hospital in Winston, officials said.

Based on the evidence collected at the scene, the vehicle is likely a passenger-size car with damage to the passenger side head light and turn signal, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hickory police at 828-328-5551.
