2 Charlotte lawyers accused of money misdeeds disbarred

Two Charlotte lawyers, each accused of misusing clients’ money, have been disbarred.

The N.C. State Bar accused Sybil Barrett of misappropriating money she held in trust to pay taxes on real estate closings in 2008 and 2009. The bar says Barrett took it for her personal use. She did not appear at her October disciplinary hearing.

Scott Spransy, according to the bar, helped himself to $21,000 more of his clients’ settlement from a 2007 car accident than he deserved. The bar says he failed to pay the couple’s medical bills as directed and never turned over their share of the money. Michael Gordon
