Two Lenoir residents arrested on drug offenses

Lenoir police arrested a man and a woman after learning of a drug deal taking place late Sunday in the parking lot of Holiday Superette, 1742 Blowing Rock Blvd.

Officers charged Dustin Ryan Bumgarner, 29, of Lenoir with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

Carol Jean Dunn, 52, also of Lenoir was charged with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana and driving while impaired.

Bumgarner was jailed on $101,000 bail and Dunn on $50,000 bail.

An anonymous caller reported the transaction, police said, and responding officers spotted one of the vehicles on Powell Road.

Police stopped that vehicle, driven by Dunn, near the intersection of Glen View and Penwood streets. Officers said they found 2 grams of methamphetamine, two oxycodone pills, 0.4 grams of marijuana and $1,496 in the vehicle.

Officers found the second vehicle, operated by Bumgarner, at Holiday Foods, 933 Wilkesboro Blvd. In the vehicle, officers said they found 0.3 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a 9 mm Kel-Tec PF9 handgun.
